Working alongside the production company Tinderflint and creative agency FEREF, we were brought on early to deliver VFX for The Magic of Movies — a heartwarming short film celebrating Disney’s partnership with MediCinema.Blending live-action with beloved characters from Lilo & Stitch, Elio, and Fantastic Four, the film brings cinematic magic into a real children’s hospital — showing the power of stories to transport, uplift, and inspire.

Convex Studio handled 18 VFX shots across the film, joining the project early for pre-production support and on-set supervision. Using official Disney toolkit assets for Lilo & Stitch and Elio, we integrated iconic characters into practical environments, enhancing scenes with matte paintings, projection-mapped lighting, water simulations, and compositing.

For Fantastic Four, no toolkit assets were available — so we leaned into creative problem solving. We designed and animated a custom CG Human Torch, gliding past a hospital window, and added VFX to elevate practical on-set effects. Trailer footage was enhanced and extended to sit naturally within the world of the film.This was a hugely rewarding project to be part of — not just for the creative scope, but for the cause it supports. A rare mix of fun, purpose, and visual storytelling.
